We Survive

We wake

rise and shine

but our lights are flickering

we eat

vultures in the haze

the taste is bitter yet we swallow

we roam

aimless and silent

our legs grow tired sooner than before

we sit

thinking and still

thoughts of then and when never now

we sleep

broken and lonely

our company cold as death

we live

lungs breathing heart beating

this is how we survive.

The Hidden Ones

Behind smiles

a laugh

a quiet hello

they hide

Never too far

or too close

always there

they hide

Saying yes

standing strong

careful and calm

they hide

They never want to disappoint

saying yes, quietly smiling

but sometimes they need a hand to hold

to carry them from where they hide

*****

Just a quick little mind splatter for you there, long time I know, but I’m back – sort of. I hope you enjoyed it, and maybe even took something from it. See you after the next one.

The Forgotten

We are the forgotten

Left to wallow alone

In the hope that we might forget ourselves

Forget all we had

For we had dreams

Hopes

Beliefs

Aspirations

All since forgotten

No, not forgotten

Misplaced

Hush now it will be okay

Those words are meaningless

Nothing is okay

For we are the forgotten

Never to be seen

A plastic dummy pretending to speak our minds

When we lost those long ago

To the ones who forgot

We are the forgotten

Remembered only to forget the truth of our being
